Abdulrasheed Bawa, the newly appointed Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared that he has a cordial relationship with the former acting chairman of the anti-graft commission, Ibrahim Magu.
Recall that the former acting EFCC chair, Magu was suspended in July 2020 following allegations of mismanagement of recovered loot and others.
Magu’s travails followed a memo by Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), who accused him of grave malfeasance. Magu was subsequently arrested, detained and suspended as the acting chairman of the anti-graft agency after a panel headed by a retired judge, Ayo Salami recommended his suspension from office.
The new EFCC chair, Bawa while responding to questions from senators who grilled him on Wednesday disclosed he has a cordial relationship with Magu.
“I have a cordial relationship with the former Acting Chairman. He congratulated me on my nomination and wished me success,” Bawa said.
