Following the announcement that Nigeria is expecting 3.92m doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday March 2, from COVAX, Nigerians have been directed to register for COVID-19 vaccination via the portal of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
The federal government gave the directive on social media. A tweet shared on the official handle of the Nigerian Government read;
Please visit the website http://nphcda.gov.ng and click on ‘COVID-19 Vaccination e-registration’ to register for #COVID19 vaccination.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday received the coronavirus vaccine from COVAX a global scheme to procure and distribute inoculations for free for poorer countries.
Mr Akufo-Addo becomes the first recipient of the COVAX vaccine which is jointly facilitated by the World Health Organisation.
Other facilitators include Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
