The police have arrested 27 students of the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, Nasarawa State, in connection with the Thursday protest against the closure of the school’s registration portal by the institution.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bola Longe, revealed this shortly after the state governor, Mr Abdullahi Sule inspected the level of damage caused by the angry students on Friday.
Longe said “The command has so far apprehended 27 students in connection with the protest. Only those found to have been actively engaged in the violent protest will be sanctioned.”
Recall that on Thursday, angry students of the Isa Musthapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, Nasarawa State, barricaded the Lafia-Jos Road protesting the closure of the school’s registration portal.
The school management had compelled students who are yet to pay for their registration to pay N10,000 for late registration before they can access the portal which will enable them seat for their examinations that is to commence on Monday, March 15.
