The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has admitted that President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) have failed to deliver on the campaign promises.
The Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum stated this on Friday during an interview on Channels Television programme.
Fayemi, who was a leading player in the campaign that brought President Buhari to power said the ruling party, APC has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians who voted for the party.
He admitted that the APC has failed to deliver on its promises made to Nigerians particularly centering on security, anti-corruption, and on economic growth.
Fayemi said though some of the issues in the country predated Buhari’s government, elected officials should take responsibility for not performing.
He said: “I’m not going to shy away from the expectations people had before we came to office. I was a leading player in the campaign that brought my principal ( Buhari) to power.
“We promised Nigerians quite a number of things, particularly centering on security, anti-corruption, and on economic growth. Have we been able to attain all of what we promised? Obviously not.”
Nigerian economy has slipped into recession twice on his watch in the last six years, while banditry and school kidnapping have become commonplace.
