Police have arrested three Jukun fisherman for allegedly involving with last Saturday’s attack on convoy of Benue Governor Samuel Ortom along Tyo Mu, Makurdi.
The arrest was confirmed by the special adviser on security to Ortom, Col. Paul Hemba while conducting newsmen round the scene of the attack on Tuesday.
Hemba stated the police team found the fishermen close to the scene of the attack and are being investigated.
In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Executive Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has recounted how armed men suspected to be herdsmen attacked his convoy on Saturday.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the incident happened at Tyo Mu along Makurdi-Gboko road while on a visit to a farm.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the governor described the gunmen as “herders”.
He said the armed men, numbering about 15, trailed his convoy to the river bank where he was on foot with his security details to inspect a farm and opened fire on them.
