Leader of proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has stated that no Nigerian deserves to be in prisons.
This is coming hours after more than 2,000 inmates were freed by hoodlums in Owerri, capital of Imo State.
Kanu said some groups and individuals get freed and rehabilitated by authorities while others languish in custody.
The IPOB leader tweeted on Monday “If Miyetti Allah terror herdsmen & other murderous #Fulani groups, including Boko Haram insurgents, can be arrested, freed and rehabilitated by this neo-colonial Fulanised @NGRPresident, then no single soul deserves to be in any prison in Nigeria. If you know you know! #UGM.”
In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that unidentified hoodlums have set the Imo State correctional centre on fire, freeing hundreds of inmates.
It was gathered that the hoodlums took advantage of the Easter festive atmosphere to invade the centre at the wee hours of Monday.
This development came after the state Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Mohammed said that he had deployed over 4760 personnel to ensure maximum security during and after the Easter celebration.
