Judicaelle Irakoze, a Burundian activist, writer and feminist, has taken a dig at people especially women who look down on sex workers.
The US-based activist and 2017 Miss Burundi, who said that her goal is to “dismantle patriarchy,” took to the micro blogging platform, Twitter, on Wednesday, April 7, to state that patriarchy have got women believing that they are better than others who make money with their bodies.
“The biggest scam of patriarchy is making women believe there’s a level of superiority attached to sleeping with men for free. Like we should be celebrated for running our vaginas as non-profits. So every other day, we see tweets of the sisters trying to look down on sex workers” she wrote.
“Imagine making a thread on how you failed to use your suzie for something you needed to feel at peace and start blaming the women you found there killing the game. I mean, congratulationss I guess. lmao.” she added.
Irakoze, however, noted that sexual transactions are not only about money.
“I am seeing how many are engaging with this tweet and I want to emphasize on the fact that sexual transactions are not only money but equal intimacy, care, needed care, meeting each other’s needs equally…and the patriarchy robs that from women a lot” she said.
