Two security guards who were employed to protect a filling station have been killed by armed robbers in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the armed robbers struck at the newly established A.A. Rano filling station situated at Customs junction along Ondo road on Saturday night.
It was also learnt that the security guards were shot dead but as at the time of filling this report, it was not clear if the robbers stole any item or not.
Reacting to the sad development, a supervisor in the station, Mr Buhari Ashiru said the victims were found at about 5.30am on Sunday when staff resumed duty.
Ashiru said the robbers failed in their effort to break into the safe in one of the offices
He said the corpses have been taken away by the Police.
Confirming the killings, the police public relations officer in the state, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro said investigation has commenced into the incident.
