Jonathan Pentland, the white army sergeant caught in a viral video abusing a young black man has been charged.
It will be recalled that Jonathan went viral after he was recorded harassing and assaulting a black man identified as DeAndre in a South Carolina neighborhood.
The 42 year old was charged Wednesday with third-degree assault and detained in the Richland County jail and issued a personal recognizance bond, according to online jail records.
On Monday, the viral video was posted on Facebook and shared by thousands of social media users. Jonathan was shown demanding that the black man leave the neighborhood before threatening him with physical violence.
In the video, Jonathan was heard telling DeAndre “You’re in the wrong neighborhood,” while asking him to leave before shoving him.
