The ruling party, All Progressives Congress has condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for “politicising” the rising insecurity in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the national secretary of APC caretaker committee, John Akpanudoedehe.
The ruling party asked the PDP not to doubt President Muhammadu Buhari’s capacity to end the nation’s security woes.
This comment was made by Akpanudoedehe in response to a comment made by PDP governors, who said that the ruling party lacks the capacity to govern and restore peace in Nigeria.
He said the situation required all well-meaning citizens — including leaders of the opposition parties — to sit down and find how best it can be solved.
“Let no one be in doubt as to the urgency and capacity of the President Buhari-led government to end the recent security incidents,” Akpanudoedehe said.
The APC official also assured that the president was doing his best to find a lasting solution to Nigeria’s challenges.
He advised the party against “politicising or being simplistic about the security situation” as “our duty to the nation as good citizens should outweigh political party colourations.”
“This is not the time to play to the gallery, but sit down to find real and lasting solutions, the latter is what the President Buhari administration is doing,” Akpanudoedehe said.
