Gunmen free abducted Adamawa journalist

Gunmen have freed a journalist idenitified as Mrs Amrah Ahmed who was abducted in Adamawa state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the journalist, Mrs Amrah Ahmed, who is an Editor with the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), was kidnapped on Tuesday May 2, 2021, the same week she resumed work after her maternity leave.

 

The abduction was confirmed by her husband, Alhaji Ahmad Isa Mbamba around 1:32am on Wednesday, May 12.

 

“Alhamdulillah, Amra regained her freedom and reunited with her family. Worthy to note, she returned safely. Our sincere thanks to all colleagues,” Mbamba said.

 

The gunmen, numbering about 15, were said to have stormed the house of the victim in Yola South last week with the intention to kidnap her husband.

The kidnappers upon their arrival in the residence, broke the sitting room door and gained access into the bedroom asking the whereabout of the husband of the victim.

 

They eventually took Amra, leaving behind her young children, including a six-month old baby.

 

DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), in the state, confirmed Amra’s release, adding that the police were trailing her kidnappers.
