Unknown gunmen have reportedly shot dead a former judge of the Enugu state high court, Stanley Nnaji.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the former judge, Nnaji was killed on Sunday evening in Enugu while driving in a black Mercedes Benz SUV.
A video posted on Twitter by a witness showed how the assailants double-crossed the judge’s car, dragged him out and shot him.
According to report, the incident happened beside the Enugu Diagnostics Centre by Ebeano Tunnel.
The commissioner of police in the state, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu confirmed the incident and ordered a manhunt for the gunmen.
This was contained in a statement signed by the police public relations officer, Daniel Ndukwe.
The police boss said: “The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.”
Nnaji hails from Mbu, Isi-Uzo LGA of the state.
He was dismissed as a judge following his alleged role in the removal of Chris Ngige, the then governor of Anambra state, in 2007 via a questionable ex-parte order.
The killing of Nnaji happened after a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Gulak was shot dead by gunmen in Imo state.
