Fort-two notorious thugs known as ‘Yan Daba’ and 21 drug dealers have been arrested by the police in Kano state.
The Kano State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, June 2, while parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Kano.
He also said large quantity of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs worth over N32m were recovered from the suspects.
“In line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Ag IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc, on community based policing, and in the Command’s efforts to rid the State of all forms of crimes and criminality, especially the menace of thuggery (Daba), Drug Abuse and other social vices within the eight Local Government Areas in Kano metropolis, Clearance Operations led by the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shua’ibu Dikko, fsi were conducted,” he stated.
“These led to the arrest of Forty Two (42) notorious thugs (‘Yan Daba) and twenty one (21) drug Dealers between 30/05/2021 to 01/06/2021. Large quantity of assorted weapons and Illicit drugs worth millions of Naira were recovered.
“The recovery includes; Tramadol Tablets worth Twenty Nine Million, Nine Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira (N29,940,000.00) and Exol Tablets valued Three Million Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N3,250,000.00).
“Prior to the Operations, Community Policing Stakeholders Meetings were held at all the eleven (11) Area Commands in Kano State. Meetings were held with heads of Sister Security agencies, Hunters Association, Yoruba and Igbo community that resides in the State, Political party leaders and chairmen of eight (Metropolitant Local Government Areas. All those in the meeting promise to cooperate with the Police for a safer and more secured Kano State.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi Popularly Called by the Good people of Kano State as “Nagari Nakowa” appreciates the good people of the State, other security agencies.
“The Media, special Constabularies, Vigilante Groups and our Community policing Stakeholders for their prayers, Support, encouragement and Cooperation. Currently, with very low crime rate, serene and peaceful atmosphere in the state, the Command will continue to remain steadfast and resolute in safe guarding life and property.” the statement concluded.
