The Niger State Government has placed a ban on any form of demonstrations either protest or rally in the state.
This directive was issued on Saturday by the secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Matane.
According to the SSG, the order, which followed plans by groups to protest against insecurity, is with immediate effect.
“The decision to ban all forms of processions was as a result of the security situation in the state”, he said.
Matane added that security agencies have been directed to deal with persons and organizations that violate the order.
The official advised members of the public to be law-abiding and peaceful.
