Chairman of the caretaker committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mai Mala Buni has stated that his party is the largest on the African continent.
This was stated on Tuesday by the APC chairman, Buni when he hosted Jon Tong Chol, ambassador of North Korea to Nigeria at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Represented by John Akpanudoedehe, national secretary, the Yobe governor said the APC has over 40 million registered party members across the country.
“I offer the sincere apologies of the national chairman who is unavoidably absent due to urgent state engagements. He asked me to stand in for him and extend his goodwill and that of the entire members to you, the government of DPRK and of course, The Workers Party of Korea,” he said.
“The APC is the governing party in Nigeria and is the largest political party in Africa, going by the figures of its just-concluded membership registration which stands at over 40 million registered members.
“The bilateral relations between Nigeria and DPRK go as far back as 1976, and in recent times, our two countries have collaborated in the areas of educational and technological development.”
On his part, the ambassador said the increase in APC’s membership is an indication of the party’s policies in the country.
“The increase in the membership shows the popularity of the party and also the just policies of the APC government. I hope that the party achieves greater success in taking the Nigerian people to the Next Level,” he said through an interpreter.
“Our two countries have long standing relations of friendship and cooperation. The leaders of the two countries and its people rejoice with the creative achievements which both countries are making.”
