Kaduna police arrest bandit, recover AK47 rifle and operational vehicle

Operatives of the Kaduna Police Command have arrested a suspected bandit, Bello Abubakar and recovered an AK47 rifle concealed in a vehicle from him along Kudaru forest in Saminaka, Lere LGA of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officers in the state, ASP Muhammed Jalige, who disclosed this in a statement said the bandit was arrested after the operatives intercepted a Volkswagen vehicle (Golf) green in color with Reg.No.KAG 142 AA heading towards Kaduna.

Jalige said operatives while on routine patrol along Kudaru forest in Saminaka noticed the suspicious disposition of the occupants of a Volkswagen vehicle (Golf) green in color with Reg.No.KAG 142 AA and tried to flag them down but the occupants immediately parked some distance away and took to their heels into the forest.

He said “The Policemen however engaged them in a shootout of which they succeeded in apprehending one Bello Abubakar ‘M’ and when the vehicle was searched, an AK47 rifle was found concealed in a bid to escape the eagle eyes of the security forces along the route.

“The suspect is currently undergoing thorough investigation and is giving useful information to the Police while concerted effort is ongoing with the view to apprehending the fleeing members of the gang to face the full wrath of the law.”

The Command assured members of the public that it will do everything possible to ensure that members of the gang are dislodged and their operational weapons recovered.
