Seven people have been killed by armed bandits in the last 72 hours in Chikun, Kajuru and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna state.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that four of the 26 victims kidnapped by bandits at Ungwan Madaki in Kakau, Chikun LG, on June 18, 2021, were killed after their families failed to pay ranson.
It was also learnt that after killing the four victims, the bandits informed the families to go and carry the bodies which they had dumped by the roadside at Tsohon Gaya.
Reacting to the killing, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan confirmed the incidents in a statement on Saturday, July 3.
Aruwan said the developments were reported to the state government by security agencies on Friday.
According to him, bandits shot four people at the outskirts of Tsohon Gayan general area of Chikun LGA.
He said two people identified as Solomon Bamaiyi and Francis Moses from Kakau village of the same LGA were killed while another unidentified person from Kachia was also killed.
The Commissioner said one Danjuma Alhaji, a native of Tsohon Farakwai of Igabi LGA was similarly killed by bandits at the outskirts of Galadima General Area of Giwa LGA.
He noted that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has sent condolences to their families and prayed for the repose of their souls.
Aruwan said security agencies have carried out confidence building visit to Iri Station, where some citizens were killed and an unspecified number of people kidnapped.
Meanwhile, one of the victims killed by bandits in Chikun has been identified as Mr Bulus Umaru.
