Bandits attack Katsina community, kill 19, burn houses

Armed men suspected to be bandits have attacked Tsauwa village, Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State, killing no fewer than 19 residents, while many houses were set ablaze.

WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the criminal elements also carted away valuable items from the community during the attack.

Residents said the bandits stormed the village around 11.30 p.m on Monday and operated till the early hours of Tuesday.

It was learnt that on arrival at the village, the bandits started shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the death of the victims.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, confirmed the attack.

The PPRO was, however, unable to give details of the incident saying he was in contact with the Duty Police Officer, DPO in charge of the area for more details.
