Forbes has named Denmark striker Martin Braithwaite as the second richest player in Barcelona.
The club’s captain, Lionel Messi Is the only player richer than Braithwaite among the Barcelona playing staff.
Braithwaite was one of Barcelona’s most surprising signings in history and has now been named as one of the club’s richest players.
The Dane wears number nine at Camp Nou, and given Messi is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Barcelona he’s technically the richest player at the club.
Braithwaite joined Barcelona from Leganes mid-way through the 2019/20 season, making 40 appearances for the blaugrana and scoring three goals since. Before turning up at Camp Nou, Braithwaite had represented Esbjerg fB, Toulouse, Middlesborough and Bordeaux. He’s also scored ten goals in 53 appearances for Denmark, and was just last night knocked out of Euro 2020.
There’s been talk that the striker will leave the Catalans this summer after impressing throughout Euro 2020.
Messi earns a reported €1,360,731-a-week at Barcelona so it’s no wonder he is the richest.
However, Braithwaite’s riches come from some excellent investments, in 2017 he invested $850,000 in a real estate business, which has paid off.
Among other investments, Braithwaite has a clothing business with his wife and owns a restaurant in Barcelona.
Speaking on a Yahoo Finance channel panel recently, via the Irish Times, the striker said, “We want to teach people about financial freedom and the power that they possess.
“We have so many things that we want to do and always with the mindset to give back.”
