The Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Sumbo Ajose, is dead.
Ajose, 55 years old, passed away in the United States of America Tuesday night.
The politician battled with an undisclosed illness and was receiving treatment until she succumbed.
Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, described Ajose’s demise as “sad and unfortunate.”
In a statement, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said he is in shock.
He described the death “painful” and a sad loss to the ruling party.
Sanwo-Olu described the deceased as a trustworthy, committed, extremely loyal politician and an invaluable asset to Lagos APC.
He said Ajose was accountable and rendered selfless service during her tenure as Treasurer without any blemish record.
“I am saddened by the passage of this indefatigable, devoted, loyal and committed democrat and a team player who played remarkable roles in the success of our party during her lifetime.”
The governor added that she will be missed by her family, friends and the political class, particularly Lagos APC Executive Committee, chieftains and members.
