Emmanuel Kanu, the brother of Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, claimed that operatives of the Department of State Services have denied them access to him.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami had disclosed at a press briefing that Kanu was arrested on through the joint efforts of the intelligence and security services.
“Self-acclaimed leader of the proscribed secessionist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Kanu, has been intercepted through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and Security Services.
“He has been brought back to Nigeria, in order to continue facing trial after disappearing, while on bail regarding 12 count charge against him.”
According to The Nation, Emmanuel said their efforts to see the IPOB leader through a lawyer have been futile.
He alleged that maybe the federal government had intention to kill him, because he sees no reason why they would not allow the family have access to him
“We have been denied access to him. We have made several efforts through our lawyer to see him, all to no avail. My brother should be given access to his own private doctor. It is our stand and position.
“Maybe they intend to kill him, because I don’t know why they would not allow us access to see him. As we speak, some legal steps are being taken as we don’t believe in the judicial process here, but we will do what we can,” he said.
