Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, has arrived at Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The freedom fighter was scheduled to be arraigned today for an extradition hearing.
Igboho was apprehended on Monday night at the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou.
The agitator may be tried for Immigration-related offences.
Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the airport as they wanted to catch a flight to Germany.
Igboho’s lawyer, Yomi Alliyu (SAN), had alleged that his client and wife were arrested in Benin Republic on their way to Germany.
He also alleged that his client is facing inhuman treatment, as his legs and hands are allegedly tied like an animal in police custody.
The Nigerian government planned to extradite the activist on Wednesday (yesterday) but Benin Republic insisted that it would not be part of any process that was against due process.
More to come…
