A 27-year-old man identified as Morufu Abdullah has been arrested by operatives of Osun state police command for allegedly stealing an air conditioner at an isolation centre in the state university teaching hospital annex.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of police, Olawale Olokode during a press briefing on Tuesday.
The police boss said the suspect was arrested after security personnel attached to the hospital alerted the police.
Olokode noted that the suspect had removed one of the air conditioners attached to a room in the hospital, when police officers arrested him at the scene.
“On 22nd July, 2021, at about 1330hrs, a security person attached to Osun State University Teaching Hospital Annex, Mercy Land one of the Osun state COVID-19 Isolation centres, located at Dada estate area of Osogbo who was vigilant on duty noticed that; there was a person inside one of the Hospital rooms removing the air conditioners and alerted the Dada estate police station,” the commissioner said.
“The police immediately moved to the scene, condoned the area and arrested one Morufu Abdullah ‘m’ aged 27 years who had removed one of the air conditioners in one of the rooms in the isolation centre. The suspect has been charged to court.”
In the same vein, the commissioner said two suspects — Sefiu Adeboye and Adekunle Odekanyi have been arrested for allegedly stealing a Toyota Corolla car — after a complaint from the owner of the car.
“On the receipt of the complaint, police detectives swiftly carried out its investigation network to Ogun State, arrested the above first two suspects, and recovered the stolen vehicle,” he added.
“The arrest of the duo also led to the arrest of the third suspects at Akiriboto area of Gbongan and recovered the above-mentioned exhibits; the properties of the victim (complainant).”
