Hon Ladi Adebutu, a former member of the House of Representatives, has recalled how his leg was affected by the deadly COVID-19.
Adebutu said the virus was the reason he has been limping when walking.
The former lawmaker said this while addressing members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday.
According to Adebutu, many people do not pay attention to COVID-19 protocols because they do not believe it exists.
As a leader, he maintained that the people should be told the truth about COVID-19, as he charged them to go for vaccination and stop the spread of the virus.
“As your leader, brother and well-wisher, I must tell you the truth. There is COVID-19, and vaccination is the priority.
“I have seen COVID. I had it. Stop saying there is no COVID-19. I limp today because I had COVID. I didn’t limp before. I started limping because of COVID-19.
“Everybody should get vaccinated. Once everybody is vaccinated, we can gather anywhere for as long as we can,” he said.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that about 57 persons have been killed by coronavirus in Ogun State so far.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, has appealed to all Ogun residents to follow all non-pharmaceutical methods to stop the spread of the disease.
