Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has described the abduction of Mallam Idris Mohammed, the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy as a “tragedy”.
Mohammed was abducted by suspected bandits on Sunday night.
Reacting via his verified Twitter handle on Monday, the 53-year-old bemoaned the unsavoury situation in the Northern part of Nigeria.
“The news of the Kidnapping of the Niger state commissioner of Information at his residence in Tafa local government is another tragedy. In same Niger, two hundred students of the Tegina Qur’anic school languish in the hands of Kidnappers for months and now this,” Sani wrote.
Niger state, Northcentral Nigeria, has been under siege from bandits for the past seven years.
Out of the 25 local government areas in the state, 18 have been attacked by these bandits and local government areas which are constantly invaded and almost completely overrun are Shiroro, Munyan, Rafi, Mashegu and of recent Paiko.
