A terrible accident allegedly caused by a fully loaded truck has claimed the lives of several road users along the New Ife road, Celica area in Egbeda local government area of Oyo State.
According to the information gathered, the tragedy struck around 7 am on Monday, August 9, 2021. BBC News Yoruba reported that the accident occurred after a truck driver lost control of his vehicle before ramming into a commercial taxi.
An eyewitness, simply identified as Sunday, explained that the fully loaded truck skied off the road with the taxi before plunging into a nearby ditch. He revealed that the taxi was about to enter the road when the truck crashed into it.
Sunday also explained that there were six (6) people in the taxi at the time of the accident. However, no fewer than four of the victims have been confirmed dead.
Officers of the Fire Fighters and Road Safety were seen at the scene putting off the fire and controlling vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, the Celica community in Ibadan has called on the federal government to complete the ongoing road rehabilitation work on the Ibadan-Ile Ife expressway which has lasted for over a year.
