Some personnel of the Delta State Police Command allegedly rammed into two motorcyclists and their passengers in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that one of the victims reportedly died on the spot, while two others sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to PUNCH, an Instagram user, @Chaar_leey, said he was plying the road to link his destination when policemen, who were on surveillance patrol duty, had mounted a roadblock in Agbor stopped him, demanded his vehicle particulars and to check the boot of his vehicle.
@Chaar_leey said immediately he got out of his vehicle, some of the policemen suddenly took over the vehicle and dragged him into their patrol van.
The policemen were said to have rammed into two motorcyclists and their passengers after attempting to whisk the motorist and his vehicle away.
An Instagram handle, @gossipmillnaija, reposted @cheer_ley’s post showing some good Samaritans using a motorcycle to convey one of the victims to hospital.
Footage also showed the policemen fleeing the scene of the incident in their patrol vehicle.
The message attached to the post read, “First things first. We thank God for life…So today some men stopped my car at a roadblock after Agbor Delta State and asked to see my papers and check my boot. Immediately I came down to do that, they rushed into my car and the others tried to push me into their van.
“I was helplessly shouting…Then when they drove off my car and tried to drive theirs too, they hit two bikes on the spot and one man died there and then…and another’s face was bruised badly and another pulled his ankle…
“My phone was stolen; when people chased them, the two guys in my car came down and ran into the van and ran…Luckily for us, passersby made videos and sent them to me.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, who said he was aware of the trending footage, urged the complainant to make an official report to any of the police stations in the state for onward investigation.
He said, “That guy should understand that justice is not on social media, because I saw the video you are making reference to. If an issue that is as critical as that happened, he should have gone to the nearest police station to report.
“Don’t forget that the #EndSARS protests were as a result of an incident that happened in Ughelli, where a suspected Yahoo boy jumped out of a moving police Hilux van and the police took him to hospital and somebody did a video claiming that the police fired at the Yahoo boy and moved away with his vehicle.
“There is no official report of that incident in any of the divisions in Delta State. To substantiate what that person is saying, he has to come out; nobody is going to do anything to him as it is already on the Internet.
“If he says somebody died, death is not a child’s play; who died? What is the name of the person who died? Which mortuary did they keep his corpse? These are the questions to substantiate what he is saying and not the random video he posted on the Internet.”
