The Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Adamawa State Command, have smashed a 14-member kidnapping syndicate operating within the state and it environs.
The command says it recovered 18 handsets with 23 SIM cards from the suspects.
The Command said in a statement passed to newsmen Tuesday night by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, that the suspects were all arrested following credible information from a reliable source.
“The operatives of Adamawa State Police Command attached to SIB have recorded another breakthrough by apprehending a syndicate of 14 notorious kidnappers terrorizing innocent citizens,” the police stated.
The police gave the identities of the suspects as Sanda Buba who is 33 years old and resident of Bausman village in Chigari in Fufore LGA, Aliyu Abubakar (34 years old and resident of Yolde Pate in Yola South LGA), Ashiru Sarkin Yamma (a 25-year-old youth with no fixed address.
The others include Tukur Hammadu, 35 years old and a resident of Yolde Pate, Yola South LGA, Abdul Isa, 35, from Samunaka in Yola South LGA, Idris Musa, 27, from Malabu, Fufore LGA, Samaila Garba, 25, a resident of Bunga, Malabu district, Fufore LGA, and Mumini Idirisu, 25 and resident of Bunga, Malabu district, Fufore LGA, among others.
The Police said investigations led to the phone and SIM card recoveries, and that the suspects had confessed during interrogation of kidnapping Alhaji Sale Idi of Farang in Fufore LGA, Ya’u Adamu of Ganye town and Jones Hayatu of Kojoli Village, Jada Local Government Areas respectively, and collected huge amounts of money as ransom.
