The Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Ismaila Abdulmummuni Kamba and his Deputy, Muhammadu Buhari Aliyu, have been impeached.
Their impeachment was disclosed on Tuesday by the Chairman House Committee on Information and Culture, Muhammad Tukur.
He made the announcement shortly after a closed-door plenary session in the Assembly on Tuesday.
A member representing Bagudo West, Muhammad Abubakar Lolo was immediately sworn in as the new speaker.
While Mohammaed Usman Zuru, a member representing Zuru constituency was also sworn in as the new Deputy speaker. The new Speaker and his Deputy are all members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
While the reason for their impeachment was not disclosed, the Chairman who made the announcement, said 20 members of the Assembly out of 24 attended the closed-door session where the decision was taken.
