Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have planned an emergency meeting to discuss the leadership crisis rocking the party.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the director-general, PDP governors forum, C.I.D Maduabum via a statement issued in Abuja.
According to Maduabum, the meeting was summoned by Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto and chairman of the PDP governors forum.
According to reports, the meeting is scheduled to hold at the Akwa Ibom governors’ lodge in Abuja on Thursday.
The crisis rocking the main opposition party took a new twist on Monday.
Recall that a high court sitting in Rivers state granted an interim order restraining Uche Secondus from parading himself as the national chairman of the party.
Subsequently, Yemi Akinwonmi, deputy national chairman (south) of the party stepped in as the acting chairman of the party and suspended the national working committee (NWC).
Three hours later, deputy national chairman (North), Nazif Suleiman also announced himself as the acting chairman of the party.
