Ekiti man allegedly lures 17-year-old daughter to hotel, rapes her after promising to take her to Malaysia

A 40-year-old man, Emmanuel Bejide, has been remanded in the Ado Ekiti Custodial Centre, for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter after promising to take her to Malaysia.

The suspect was said to have lured the Senior Secondary School three student to a hotel in Akure, the Ondo state capital, where he started having sexual intercourse with her.

The police prosecutor, Sodiq Adeniyi, said the defendant “was reasonably suspected to have several times raped his 17-year-old biological daughter, who is a Senior Secondary School three student, between September 2020 and July 2021, at Ikere Ekiti.”

“The victim had, while narrating her ordeal to the police, said her father lured her to a hotel in Akure, the Ondo State capital, sometime in September 2020, and started having sexual intercourse with her with the promise to take her to Malaysia,” he said.

According to a police report, the defendant was arrested on August 21, 2021, when the case was reported at the police station; the offence runs contrary to Section 31 of the Child Right Laws of Ekiti State.

The Magistrate, Mojisola Salau, adjourned the matter till September 16, 2021, for mention after the prosecutor pleaded with the court to remand the defendant so he could forward the duplicate case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice
