On Friday, a 48-year-old man, named Mark Onuoha, was arraigned in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for reportedly biting off a woman’s ear.
Onuoha, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was charged with assault and causing grievous bodily harm, NAN reports.
The prosecutor, Inspector Christian Okonofua, narrated to the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 31 at 7 at Itowolo, Ikorodu area of Lagos state.
Okonofua said the defendant assaulted one Mrs Rebecca Amosun by biting her up and biting off her left ear.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravenes Sections 245 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 provides for one-year jail term for assault.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Shotobi adjourned the case until Sept. 13 for mention.
