Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and social commentator, has reacted to the death of ex-Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mailafia Obadiah
It would be recalled that Mailafia was confirmed dead on Sunday morning after an unknown illness.
Omokri urged relevant authorities to independently investigate Mailafia’s death.
In a tweet, the Nigerian socio-political activist said Mailafia’s death was “fishy.”
“Mailafia’s passing is fishy and should be independently investigated,” he tweeted.
The former presidential candidate died at the National Hospital Abuja on Sunday morning.
Luka Binniyat, spokesman for the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) had said Mailafia, who took refuge in Makurdi, Benue state, following alleged persistent harassment by the Department of State Services (DSS), fell sick on Saturday and was rushed to an Abuja hospital where he was pronounced dead on Sunday.
Mailafia, who is an indigene of Southern Kaduna, recently accused some government officials of being responsible for terrorism in Nigeria.
