FULL LIST: NJC recommends appointment of 6 chief judges, 31 judicial officers

The appointment of six chief judges and 31 others as judicial officers has been recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the director of information of National Judicial Council, Soji Oye.

According to the information director of NJC, the recommendation was made during the commission’s meeting held on September 15 and 16.

Oye said the recommended candidates will be sworn in subject to the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, their respective state governors, and confirmation by the respective state houses of assembly.

“The council considered the list of candidates presented by its interview committee and recommended the 37 successful candidates to their respective state governors for appointment as heads of courts and other judicial officers in Nigeria,” the statement reads.

Those recommended as chief judges are Richard O. Olorunfemi for Kogi state, Joe Itsebaga Acha for Edo, Akintoroye Williams Akin for Ondo, Husseini Baba Yusuf for FCT,  Ekaette Francesca Fabian-Obot for Akwa Ibom, and J. O. Adeyeye for Ekiti.

Others are Baba Gana Mahdi as grand kadi, Yobe; Umaru Ahmad Liman as grand kadi, Bauchi; Osagede Osado Emmanuel as president, customary court of appeal, Nasarawa; Mashud Akintunde Akinfemi Abass as president, customary court of appeal, Oyo state; and Siyaka Momoh Jimoh Usman as president customary court of appeal, Kogi.

Zainab Abdulkadir Rasheed, Abdussalam Muhammad and Daurabo Suleiman Sikka were recommended as judges for Gombe state high court.

Effiong Asukwo Effiong and Eme Daniel Ekong were recommended for the high court of Akwa Ibom; Nana Fatima Jibril for Bauchi and Abdulkarim Mahmud and Eugene Michael for Kaduna high court.

The three candidates recommended for Katsina state are Kabir Shuaibu, Ibrahim Ishaku Mashi, and Ibrahim Abubakar Mande while Alero Akeredolu was recommended for Ondo state.

The Oyo state high court candidates are Olusola Adebisi Adetujoye, Folabimpe Beatrice Segun Olakojo, Taiwo Elijah Adewale, and Kareem Adeyimika Adedokun.

The three candidates for the high court of Kogi state are Abubakar Sule Ibrahim, Abdullah Sulyman, and Aminu Ali Eri.

Two Kadis for Gombe Sharia court of appeal are Adamu Kuna Jibril and Ahmed Baba Bala while Musa Sani Abubakar, Mahdi Manga, Khamis Al-Hamidallah Muhammad and Sani Musa were recommended for Bauchi.

Orimisan James Okorisa was recommended for Ondo state and Ajadi Olubukola Omolayo for Oyo customary court of appeal.
