Barcelona forward, Ansu Fati, has broken his silence on inheriting the club’s legend Lionel Messi’s no 10 shirt at Camp Nou.
Fati said it was an honour for him to inherit Messi’s no 10 shirt at Barcelona, adding that it is a challenge for him because the iconic jersey comes with a lot of pressure.
Barcelona handed Messi’s no 10 shirt to Fati after the Argentine captain left the LaLiga giants for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
“It’s an honour for me. I want to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to wear it, along with the captains and also the fans,“ Fati told Barca TV+.
“It is a challenge because of everything that the number 10 entails. Leo [Lionel Messi] had it, Ronaldinho and other great players had it.
“For me, if you are at Barça you have to be prepared for anything. It is the best club in the world and the number 10 is another thing that comes with pressure, but being at Barça already comes with a lot of pressure. If you are in the first team you have to deal with it.”
Fati was injured during Barcelona’s clash with Real Betis at Camp Nou last November.
The 18-year-old has since undergone several surgeries, but is finally beginning to return to fitness.
The Spain youngster was included in Barcelona’s squad to face Levante in the LaLiga on Sunday at Camp Nou.
