UPDATE: Nigeria records 295 new COVID-19 cases

As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 295 new cases of the deadly disease in 19 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update for September 28.

According to the agency, the FCT recorded the highest figure with 81 cases, followed by Gombe with 43 and Osun with 32.

Other states that reported cases are Kaduna (25), Rivers (20), Delta (17), Edo (14), Ogun (11), Oyo (9), Plateau (9), Akwa Ibom (7), Bayelsa (7), Zamfara (6), Kano (4), Ondo (3), Abia (2), Nasarawa (2), Benue (1), Ekiti (1), and Niger (1).

The agency said 317 people were discharged after recovering from the infection.

The agency also said six persons died of COVID-19 related complications, bringing the total fatalities in the country to 2,695.

According to the NCDC, two deaths were reported in Delta state on September 23 and September 26.

So far, 205,047 infections and 193,260 recoveries have been recorded across the country.
