Paris Saint-German Striker, Kylian Mbappe, to Real Madrid was one of the dominating stories of the summer transfer window after Messi’s move to PSG and Ronaldo’s move to Man United.
The Frenchman who has become one of the most sought after strikers in the world was poised for an exit from the Parc De Princes after declining new contract proposals from PSG.
However, a deal could not be struck between Madrid and PSG with the latter intent on keeping Kylian with the hope of convincing him to sign a new contract at the club.
Recently, Mbappe has opened up for the first time about his failed move to Real Madrid, whilst admitting he ached for the move.
He also mentioned what it is like for him playing alongside Messi and from things he revealed, it could be part of the reason why he wanted and probably still wants a move to the Bernabeu.
According to the 22-year-old, with Messi on the team, he is not the only big player anymore. It happens, when you want to be the main man on the pitch, make a name and legacy like your idols.
In Mbappe’s case, Ronaldo is his idol as he has often said, and going to Real Madrid could give him that chance to follow the ‘greatness’ path Ronaldo made in the Spanish Capital.
Mbappe said:
“When you only play with great players, you have to make concessions. You’re not the only big player.”
Answering a question from Media outlet L’Equipe, he confessed he finds it easier to track back more if Messi wasn’t around.
However, he made clear that he is happy to run whether Messi walks or not. Well, from PSG’s recent performances, one could say the youngster is not in his best of positions with Messi’s arrival.
