Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, has urged his teammate, Kylian Mbappe, to stay at the club amid interest from Real Madrid.
Messi believes it will be a great joy and also a way of helping PSG reach their goals if Mbappe decides to stay at the club and snub a move to Real Madrid.
Mbappe, 22, has rejected talks to extend his contract with PSG.
The France international has only one year left on his current deal with PSG and he is expected to join Real Madrid next summer.
PSG recently rejected Real Madrid’s €220million deadline day bid for Mbappe despite the player’s contract expiring in a year.
Speaking on the development, Messi told France Football, “I just got here and I don’t know him [Mbappe] well enough to say [if he’s going to Madrid], but a bit like everyone, we will see what happens.
“If in the end, he stays with us it will be a great joy and another way of helping us reach our goals.
Messi added, “Really well since the first weeks, and Kylian speaks perfect Spanish too and with a player like that, it’s easy to get along.
“Good relationships off the pitch make things easier and although it is too soon to draw conclusions, I am sure it will go well.”
Mbappe joined PSG on a permanent basis from Monaco in 2018.
