Suspended traditional ruler of Ihekwuenu autonomous community in Aku, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, HRH, Igwe, Christopher Okwor whose house was allegedly invaded by police officers days ago, has reportedly been hospitalised.

The traditional ruler’s wife, Lolo Martina Okwor is also admitted at the same hospital.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the Igwe’s wife had cried out over the inhumane treatment allegedly meted on them by the operatives that broke into their home on Thursday night, before they were whisked away to police anti-kidnapping unit in Enugu.

Recall that Martina told NTA that her husband was denied medical attention by the police operatives even when it was obvious he sustained serious injuries from the alleged beating and torture they were subjected to. She had also told journalists that her husband’s head was hit on the wall and the operatives used a gun to hit him on the chest severally.

The traditional ruler‘s family which has accused the police of conniving with Barr. Nnamdi Ezemagu and his siblings to send the him to an early grave, had raised safety concerns after the police allegedly told them that he (traditional ruler) was being transported to Abuja through Enugu airport, a claim which the wife who was whisked away with him disputed, saying that he was being transported by road.

It was also alleged that the pressure mounted on police authority, led to the release of the monarch from a police station in Enugu “where he was dumped”.

The traditional ruler’s family also told newsmen that he complains of chest pain and has cracked ribs after he was released, while his wife on the other hand allegedly sustained mild brain injury and neck injury.

Commenting on the charges that led to his home’s invasion, Igwe Okwor who is now on admission at a private hospital said the petitioner, Nnamdi Ezemagu accused him of cultism, kidnapping, possession of illegal firearms, threat to life and armed robbery.

The traditional ruler who was suspended by Enugu State government for allegedly demolishing a blind man’s one-room bungalow, an allegation he has since denied, also explained that it was all a ploy by the petitioner to grab his land.

He insisted that Barr. Nnamdi Ezemagu has allegedly fed the police with wrong information and paid them to unleash terror on him and members of his family for stopping him (Nnamdi Ezemagu) from grabbing people’s land in the community. He also alleged that Barr. Nnamdi Ezemagu after threatening him in a text message, attacked him and members his household with thugs on 22nd March, 2019.

The family is now calling on the State Government, the Inspector General of police and the Nigeria Bar Association to investigate the activities of Barr Nnamdi Ezemagu and also bring to book those police officers who invaded the monarch’s Nsukka residence.

They also stated that should anything happen to their parents, Nnamdi Ezemagu and the police should be held responsible.
