At least five persons were burnt to death after a petrol tanker exploded in Mubi town in the northern part of Adamawa State.
It was gathered that the fire started at a filling station in the early hours of Wednesday when fuel was being transferred from a petrol tanker directly into hundreds of jerry cans at Kasuwan Gyela.
According to PUNCH, residents said at least five persons were burnt to death as a result of the inferno while many sustained injuries.
A volunteer aid worker, Adamu Madobi said he witnessed three brothers who died in the unfortunate incident, adding that dozens of tricycles parked around the filling station were destroyed in the fire.
The Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Muhammad Sulaiman, who confirmed the incident, said three persons had died while two others were receiving treatment at a hospital.
