The Lagos State Government has stated that the ongoing renovation of the Apapa/Oshodi Expressway airport flyover has been rescheduled for completion in October 2021.
In a statement given to newsmen in Lagos on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde, confirmed this.
Oladeinde, who stated that the bridge’s repair work was originally planned to be completed on October 3, noted that the bridge’s repair work was extended to allow the damaged bridge’s concrete jacketing to reach full strength before opening.
“I want to assure motorists that the main carriageway would be open as soon as the process is completed.
“It is important to note that any form of haste will be detrimental to the progress made in restoring the structure back to optimum standard,” he said.
The commissioner also noted that motorists would continue with the current traffic diversion plan involving the use of the alternate lanes freed up by the contractors during the course of the rehabilitation.
