Mr. Macdonald Ebere has emerged as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state.
The Imo APC congress committee chairman, Godwin Anaughe said the party adopted a consensus approach in electing the new executives.
According to Anaughe, the party members affirmed the names of each candidate for every elective position.
Matthew Omegara, a former house of representatives member, emerged as the deputy chairman; Greg Madu as secretary; Ikechukwu Umeh as organising secretary; Ifeoma Ndukwu as state woman leader, and Cajetan Duke as the publicity secretary.
The newly elected chairman described himself as a “bridge builder” and expressed gratitude to party members for “finding him worthy of the position”.
He called for the support of the party members to enable the APC emerge victorious in all elective positions ahead of the 2023 general election.
“I will be a chairman for everybody and a servant that will champion the speedy growth of our party,” he said.
“l have come as a bridge-builder, I promise there will not be any form of segregation in Imo APC.”
Hope Uzodinma, Imo state governor, urged the newly elected executives not to betray the confidence reposed on them by the party.
“I will give you all the support you deserve because All Progressives Congress remains the party to beat,” he said.
“If APC fails, it means I have failed but if APC succeeds, it means I have succeeded too.”
