Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari will host President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey who is expected in Nigeria on a two-day official visit.
This was contained in a statement released by Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman.
According to Garba Shehu, the Turkish president is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday.
Shehu said Erdogan, who will arrive Nigeria with Emine, his wife, will come from Angola and depart for Togo at the end of the visit.
The presidential aide said Buhari and his Turkish counterpart are expected to consider “about two dozen bilateral agreements”.
”In the course of the visit, the leaders of the two countries are expected to consider about two dozen Bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and they will authorise the signing of those on which there is a concurrence,” he said.
”In addition to the bilateral discussions, President Erdogan will hold a one-on-one meeting with President Buhari and he is expected to commission the Turkish Cultural Centre in Abuja.
“Nigeria considers Turkey a close partner and sees this visit as a milestone in our bilateral relations.”
According to the statement, Emine and Aisha — Buhari’s wife — will jointly commission the newly-renovated Government Secondary School in Wuse 2, Abuja.
The renovation of the school was facilitated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordinating Agency (TIKA), a Turkish aid organisation.
