The Akwa Ibom state police command apprehended two Cameroonian foreigners in possession of explosives.
The suspects were identified as Adede De Black and Fombutu, and they were apprehended with one Bernard Mfam from Cross River State’s Ikom Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended by personnel from the AIG Border Patrol Squad along the Okobo-Oron route, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Mcdon. During the stop-and-search activities, the explosives, which included two bags of dynamites, charms, and other hazardous weapons, were also seized.
The breakthrough, the police say, was as a result of the introduction of new innovations in the security architecture pioneered by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Amegieme Andrew, in synergy with other security agencies.
