Alhaji Jamiu Olawale, a popular businessman based in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has been kidnapped.
He was kidnapped on Tuesday, October 19, at Igbo Aran village close to Aboto Oja in Asa local government area of Kwara State at about 10.05 hours by unknown gunmen.
He owns two filling stations; Olawale petrol station in Amoyo and NIPCO filling station in Olulade, Ilorin.
A security source who preferred anonymity disclosed that “he was on his way to the farm alongside his 8-year-old son when the incident happened.”
He was reportedly abducted and driven off on a motorcycle through Ira-Offa road.
“The 8-year-old boy, who could not be identified at the time of this report, ran home crying while narrating what happened,” the source added.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that security agents and local vigilantes are combing the bush in a search and rescue operation for the victim.
When contacted, the spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, through a text message confirmed the development.
He said, ” it is confirmed, serious search and rescue operation ongoing please.”
Recall that five persons including the twin daughters of the Oba of Obbo Ayegunle, his security aide, maid and driver who were kidnapped last Thursday on Osi-Obbo Ayegunle highway were rescued by a combined operation of the police, local hunters and family of the victims.
