27-year-old Enoch Yohanna has been arrested by the police for allegedly pushing his lover to death in Bauchi state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who made this known in a statement said Yohanna was arrested after a joint patrol team of police and members of Peace and Security Committee sighted the deceased at Sabon Kaura area of Bauchi lying in a pool of her blood with wounds on her head and blood gushing from her mouth.
Wakil stated that the deceased, Ruth Amos, 28 and Yohanna were in a romantic relationship which had produced two children between them.
According to him, investigation revealed that on that fateful day, Yohanna sighted the deceased coming out of a compound and out of jealousy challenged her, which led to an argument between them and in the process he pushed her and she hit her head on the ground.
“On 07/10/2021 at about 0445hrs a joint patrol team in collaboration with the Peace and Security Committee while on visibility patrol sighted a young lady lying in a pool of blood with wounds on her head and blood gushing from her mouth at Sabon Kaura.
“The team evacuated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a medical doctor certified her dead. During the course of investigation, one Hajara Amos aged 56yrs of Bayara village was identified as the deceased mother and also identified the deceased as Ruth Amos aged 28yrs of the same address.
“Consequently, investigation commenced in earnest where one Enoch Yohanna aged 27yrs of Gwallameji Doka was arrested. On interrogation the suspect voluntarily confessed to have committed the crime.
“Further investigation revealed that Enoch Yohanna and the deceased (Ruth Amos) were in a romantic relationship and blessed with 2 children, it was further revealed that on the date of the incident Enoch sighted the deceased coming out of a compound out of jealousy, he challenged her which led to an argument between them and in the process he pushed her where she hit her head on the ground,” the statement reads.
