Danger was on Saturday averted as a tanker laden with petrol crashed and spilled its contents in the Surulere Area of Lagos State.
The tanker, a Mack Truck with the registration number LAGOS 961 XJ, was carrying 33, 000 gallons of Premium Motor Spirit when it crashed at the Stadium Bus Stop on Funsho Williams Avenue in Surulere.
CSP Adebayo Adeoya, Divisional Police Officer, immediately notified the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, the Lagos Emergency Management Agency, and firemen.
The scene of the accident was then cordoned off by a police team which also provided protection to the firefighters and others.
Effort is ongoing to evacuate the fallen tanker while the police are still maintaining their presence at the scene to protect lives and property and prevent hoodlums from scooping the fuel.
