A middle-aged man was in the midnight of Monday electrocuted on a high tension cable belonging to Kano Electricity Company.
According to the company’s spokesman, Ibrahim Shawai, the guy was electrocuted while attempting to steal the cables after power was restored.
He said that the deceased and his friends were vandalizing KEDCO cables but fled when the dreadful tragedy occurred, leaving their comrade’s body behind.
Shawai expressed worry that the increasing theft of their cables and other infrastructure requires a robust response from both communities and security authorities.
He said right now the company is running on multiple losses with a lack of payments of tariffs and the theft of their equipment.
When contacted, DSP Haruna Kiwaya, spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, said the matter is under investigation.
