Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba has said that the Nigerian Police Force is yet to receive a formal extradition request for suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari following his indictment by a US Court.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the United States Department of Justice had said ongoing investigations showed that internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, commonly known as Hushpuppi allegedly bribed Kyari to arrest one Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, one of his accomplices in Nigeria.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) suspended Kyari from office as a Deputy Commissioner of Police and head of the IRT based on the recommendation of the IGP.
IGP Alkali Baba who gave an update on the case on Thursday October 28, said they only heard it on social media and there’s been no formal extradition request as reported.
The Police boss revealed that the panel constituted to investigate the case submitted its report to the Secretary General of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha for vetting and advice on the findings.
He further revealed that they’ve only received feedback from the SGF and is contemplating the next step to take.
