A female student of Egba Odeda Secondary School in Ogun State’s Odeda Local Government Area was reportedly crushed to death by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday.
On Thursday evening, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) verified the incident.
The incident happened about 2:45pm in Beni village, Oko Oloshi, along the Abeokuta-Ibadan expressway, according to TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi.
Akinbiyi stated that the schoolgirl was hit when she and other students were about to cross the road as they were returning from school.
It was said that the driver of the vehicle did not stop to take responsibility as the girl died in a pool of her blood on the spot.
Akinbiyi disclosed that the body of the deceased schoolgirl was deposited at the morgue of Ogun State General Hospital in Odeda.
While sympathising with the family of the deceased, Akinbiyi advised school pupils to be more vigilant when using the road.
